Sanctuary One | The Preserve 2024
Nearly 2000 acres of virgin Amazon Rainforest will be protected.
Land Purchase
1. Acquire endangered Earth from governments, NGOs and private owners to preserve and regenerate, starting with the Amazon Rainforest.
Will this protect the rainforest and indigenous communities from all threats?
No, but it will prevent corporations from buying the land legally, which is a significant part of the problem. While the land will still be susceptible to renegade groups who operate illegally, with the support of local enforcement and NGO’s, we can prevent destruction funded by global corporations who are largely responsible for the clearing of forest.
Preserve & Regenerate
2. Reestablish balance and promote regrowth within ecosystems that have been exploited.
On the ground restoration initiatives include providing locals and indigenous communities with provisions to support their agriculture and natural flourishing and/or simply leaving them alone through a entirely hands-off approach, SOWing native trees, and sustained regenerative soil techniques
We begin to regenerate lands that have endured deforestation through partnerships with indigenous communities, farmers and grassroots organizations, replenishing native plant species in harmony with the natural diversity of each locality.
1.32 Acres Per Second
The rainforest, i.e Earths lungs and therefore our lungs, is the most significant, natural system for carbon capture and home to over half of earths plants and animals. Data shows that at the current rate of ruin, we could have only 10% left by the year 2030.
Every second, 1.32 acres of rainforest, equivalent to the the size of a football field, is cut down or burned. Every second. That is nearly 80 acres per minute.
The affect on our planets water (hydrological cycle) would be only one of the innumerable consequences of it’s destruction. If this occurs- plants and animals won’t be the only species to become extinct.
